This Arson database reports the number of arson cases reported or known to police, the number of actual arson offenses, offenses cleared, offenses involving persons under age 18, habitation status of the structure, and estimated property damage.  Data are available for the United States, states, counties, and other reporting law enforcement agencies.

Note: we have observed occasional, slight differences (typically < 5%) between data reported in summary tables on the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) site and data files from the FBI used to create the more detailed data on RAND State Statistics.  These differences appear to be limited to larger agencies.  Users should exercise caution in these cases.  In addition, annual updates from the FBI do not include all areas in all states.  We expect to update this database when the FBI provides complete data from all states.

The 2021 calendar year update from the FBI does not include data from all areas in all states.  As a result, U.S., state, and county totals may understate actual counts.  We expect to update this database when the FBI revises its 2021 data.

Please enter a state, county, city, or other reporting agency.    Agencies are ordered alphabetically by state, county, and agencies within counties. Country entries reflect the county's reporting unit (e.g., Sheriff's Office) and do not reflect the aggregate for county agencies. The source document in some cases contains agencies with identical names. These are indicated with (2) following the name. For state totals, enter the state name.    All

Please enter a category.    Reported values for the category 'Estimated value of property damage' are inconsistent and may reflect errors in the original source file. Users should exercise caution when citing these data.    All     CSV

Please choose a time period.   Annual updates may not include data from all areas in all states. As a result, U.S., state, and county totals may understate actual counts.
