Name | Per Pupil Spending |
Summary | Expenditures per student based on fall enrollment |
Additional Background | This database contains expenditures per student, based on total expenditure and reported fall enrollment as submitted by state education agencies in the 50 states and the District of Columbia. It excludes Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), Vocational, (AVC), Regional Education Service Centers, and similar school types.
Years reflected indicate the 2nd year of a traditional academic calendar, e.g., 2008 reflects data from the 2007-2008 academic year. Per pupil expenditures reflects NCES methodology. For additional information, see Common Core of Data details.
Note: county averages reflect the unweighted average of per pupil spending in all districts, including county-operated facilities, such as County Offices of Education, which are present in California. Because county-operated facilities often educate special needs students, county office per pupil spending is much higher than in most districts. This increases county averages.
