Name | Health Insurance |
Summary | Insured and uninsured persons by demographic and other characteristics |
Additional Background | This database replaces an earlier version with the same name, adding health insurance data for cities, ZIP Codes, and Census Tracts. Data include population and the number and percentage of insured and uninsured persons by age, gender, race, ethnicity, household, disability, education, employment, and poverty status. Data are based on American Community Survey (ACS) 5-Year Estimates. See here for additional information on the ACS. ZIP Codes reflect ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTA), which are slightly different from ZIP Codes used by the U.S. Postal Service. For additional information on ZCTAs, see here. Census Tract maps are available in PDF here.
Values reflect ACS estimates, and Margins of Error reflect a 90 percent confidence level. This provides a 90% probability that the interval defined by the estimate minus the margin of error and the estimate plus the Margin of Error (the lower and upper confidence bounds) contains the true value. For example, an estimated Percent Insured of 90.2% with a 0.6% Margin of Error indicates a 90% probability that the true value is 90.2% +/- 0.6%, or 89.6%-90.8%.
