Additional Background	This database reports the number ofchildren in foster care, those awaiting adoption, and those that have exited or been adopted from foster care.  2008 data are not available.  Some 2009 data are preliminary.  The category ages 16 to 20 years includes children waiting to be adopted ages 16 to 17 years only. The category two or more races began in 2000. Data represent persons who selected this race group only and exclude persons reporting more than one race. Hispanic origin may be of any race. See here for additional category definitions.
