Additional Background | This database reports the results of Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) health-related telephone surveys about U.S. resident health-related risk behaviors, chronic health conditions, and use of preventive services. Data are collected in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia and three U.S. territories. BRFSS reports health risks and conditions for individuals in Micropolitan and Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs). Not all topics and health conditions are reported in all years. For additional information about the survey and methodology, see BRFSS. Body Mass Index (BMI) is a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of height in meters.
