This database contains information on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients and payments they receive. It includes the number of recipients, total and average payments in states and counties, and it contains the number of SSI recipients that receive Old-Age, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (OASDI). Data reflect December of each year.
SSI provides monthly benefits to people with limited income and resources who are blind, age 65 or older, or have a qualifying disability. Children with disabilities or who are blind may also get SSI. Many states provide a supplemental payment to certain SSI recipients. SSI is limited to U.S. citizens or nationals, or a noncitizens in certain classifications granted by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
